Welcome to Online Programme on School Leadership and Management
Dear Lead Learners,
Welcome to this platform of online learners where we CONNECT, COLLABORATE and COMMIT to CONTRIBUTE for the development of SELF, SCHOOL and SOCIETY.
The following video on Programme Announcement answers the WHO, WHY, WHAT and HOW questions that you would have on Who this programme is for? What is it all about? How is it going to benefit me - as a practicing school head or aspiring school head and Why at all should i take up this programme?:
WHO - Who should take this course? Well the course is open for heads of schools across the country from elementary through secondary and senior secondary. Since it is online our aspiring school heads could also enroll themselves for the course and of course our school heads from aided and private schools could also join.
WHY - School does not exist in isolation and the school head is seen as the prime mover of the entire process of transforming the schools into centres of excellence. This demands total shift in the role of heads which goes beyond administrative and managerial responsibilities to proactive practices for school transformation. The foremost step for transformation, therefore, certainly requires capacity building of school heads far from the conventional models of training to a long term developmental mode that addresses real life challenges in the schools. In this direction, School Leadership Development (SLD) is being initiated nationwide across all the levels of school education to build and enhance the capacity of school heads on a long term and continuous basis.
While NCSL through its State Resource Group teams has registered its presence in the entire country reaching to all school heads directly would be impossible without the use of technology. So through the use of Information and Communication Technology, it intends to directly meet the school heads through a MOODLE based online programme on School Leadership Development (SLD).
The following video on Programme tells you the 'WHAT' aspect of the programme giving you an overview about the programme - its key areas, the mode of engagement, the assessment and of course the knowledge sharing and networking options.

The entire programme would be staggered in three levels basic, moderate and advanced and would be divided into four quadrants comprising of e-content, self learning material, reference reading and evaluation. Each level would enable school heads to develop the required Knowledge, Skills and Attitude for leading and transforming schools. The Present course is at the basic level, on completion of which one could move to the moderate and advanced level of Capacity Building.
